Phase 2 - Lathe Work

The finished pen blanks are mounted on the lathe and are ready for turning.
The turning phase starts with a spindle gouge to trim off the squared corners. When rounded, the initial shape is created before sanding begins.
Sanding takes the pen from a basic rounded shape, with a rough feel, down to a near finished pen.
After sanding with 150 grit up through 2,000 grit, the pen is not only shaped, but also highly polished. Notice how the grain has been brought out.
